Memories from Buryatia.
Though our current photos are cute, and while we don't want to frighten anyone, we
are still fearful over the fate of these children. Many of these precious toddlers are
facing starvation and a lack of essential medical care. These children are the reason
for our organization and why we ask for your help.
This first group of photos was taken from the Malychok orphanage in Ulan-Ude,
Russia. The orphanage typically houses children ages 3 to 7 years old, but also has
a few younger children that are siblings of other children at the facility. The photos
where they are dressed up are from a birthday party program initiated by BRAFF.
Our second group of photos feature the children from the Malychok orphanage on
an all-too-rare outing where they got to go to the theater to see a puppet show!
The third group of photos is from two recent Culture Camp reunions where
adoptive families get together to catch up on the progress of the children rescued
from the poor living conditions they endured while still in the Baikal area. The
reunions also help adoptive families continue to learn about the rich culture of the
area from which their children came.
